Will I get ganked whilst out and about? From swtorstrategyguide. There is a feature called item damage, but you shouldn't have to worry about it — in regards to PvP anyway. Most vendors let your repair damaged equipment for the price of a few credits; the higher level the equipment the more credits.
But if you have help, like your guild for instance, you can call in your friends as backup if someone is griefing you. There should be no monetary cost to your character on a PvP server. In the worst case, only your time respawning or running back to where you were when you were killed.
And even then, SWTOR let's you respawn exactly where you die, though there is a timer on that feature. PvP battlegrounds will also ramp up your health and damage, but in the world you won't have those enhancements so you will die a little easier in world PvP.

Meaning, that PvPer will be more inclined to jump ship from their dying server and switch to a more populated one that used to just be PvE focused.
Players choose what they want to play in and flick a switch to play that way. Can I use the GTN on any server by switching server-instance? Or would I still have to make an acct on each server to do so? Switching server instances dosnt switch you to a different server. You are still on your selected server. You would need an alr with his own credits to buy off of other GTNs. So, is this going to be like the pve servers in WOW, where you can toggle your pvp switch on and off?
Would be great to increase the pool of players wanting to group for ops or fps. They should all just use the GW2 map system. They are just trying to remove any remaining reasons people might have to cling to their dying servers. Now that all servers support all play styles, players on dead servers will be more inclined to move to more populated ones.
Even if they are PvP players moving to a server that was once PvE focused. Now, every server is just going to have a specific instance dedicated to that style of play that you can switch between freely. They made these changes so players will spend money to transfer servers. Free transfers seem better than even 90CC ones. That seems straightforward enough. Given my experience with Auto Assault, that also seems non-irritating.
Almost feels like they are trying some sort of new business model or something. I could be wrong but who knows. From another post I read, sounds like they are normalizing them instead of merging.
PvEers will stay on the PvE servers with this change, and PvPers will transfer to those servers too, simply for the higher populations.
PvP servers will dry up, letting BW cut more costs by getting rid of them. So now you can have a PvE instance on a PvP server. PvP servers are ghost towns. What is the point? The big servers are having more and more PvP players transfer to them because of population. The new way of names having spaces is so that people can name themselves similar to what htey have in case they lose their name on transfer.
Eric said they will announce a rise of transfer cost early enough. I need at least a minimum of 1 week to prepare all my chars for a transfer, basically to move stuff from the Legacy Cargo Hold to the right characters. What also requires clean up the Cargo Hold of those characters to get the needed space.

They first try to garb our CC for transfering your chars to a populated server. Really, the only dying servers are the PVP ones. This seems like a pretty terrible idea…. Without merging a pvp server, a pvp instance on a pve server is useless. Thanks for not answering the question. Today on Dulfy: Serial Killer enraged victims are now safe. And now Naq with the weather. Well Naq, Its raining Psycho tears. So, u play assassin yes? Oh, mighty assassins, gankin mercs….

Lol, nice. How is it not fair? They rolled a toon on a PvP server…. Problem solved. The game is already laggy. Cutting down servers will only make it even laggier. Anything preserving the EU gets my full support. Um, why are players from PvE servers complaining about ganking on PvP server?
