Northern Stranglethorn is a great alternative if you can't go to Hillsbrad for some reason, but I prefer Hillsbrad. I recommend going into the two caves to grab some extra ores. In general, caves have lots of ore, so if you can, you should always give them a peak!

While the Ore in the Barrens is very spead out, you can just do this while you are leveling here, since most Horde players will spend a lot of time here anyway.
