Pat accepts the challenge and gets close to her training for the competition. On the day of the competition, Veronica unexpectedly brings Nikki to the theater, affecting Pat and Tiffany. Life doesn't always go according to plan. Pat Solatano has lost everything - his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother and father after spending eight months in a state institution on a plea bargain.

Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat's parents want is for him to get back on his feet - and to share their family's obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team.

When Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he'll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives.

Pat whispers something in Nikki's ear and they part on good terms. Pat catches up to Tiffany and gives her a letter he wrote to her. The letter says that Pat knew Tiffany wrote Nikki's letter, but Pat doesn't care and that he loves her. They kiss. Continuity mistake : Bradley Cooper wears a necklace.

While rehearsing a dance sequence with Jennifer Lawrence the necklace is alternately hanging on his chest then back, indiscriminately between cuts.

Tiffany : I was a slut. There will always be a part of me that is dirty and sloppy, but I like that, just like all the other parts of myself. I can forgive. They got the pronunciations right, they got the side effects right. And actually, on an inpatient unit, those are the discussions you want.

And that fact that this scene could so blithely make its way into a mainstream film without a lot of explanation around it — I thought that was important. We see Pat him have several manic episodes, some of which are violent. The Hemingway scene felt like a very realistic portrayal of someone with mental illness, in that he was feeling this trivial thing so intensely. So her symptoms seem plausible: the promiscuity, the mood swings, the lying. Oh yeah. The Hollywood convention is that two crazy people find each other and somehow love cancels out all the crazy.

Does this film fall into that trap? I did leave the movie with the lingering concern that that could potentially be read into it.
